Eye see you!

My, what big eyes you have!

And a big nose!

And a big mouth!

That's right, it's Smokey Bear!

And he's a balloon. Jeff's Uncle Bill from Albuquerque is the pilot and he had Smokey in Temecula for the Wine and Balloon Festival going on this weekend. The kids and I went up to meet Uncle Bill, and see Smokey up close. Come back tomorrow to learn more about Smokey, and share in the fun we had!

Ready, set, GO!

The kids got to make their own race cars.

They were powered by rubber bands and propellers.

We went outside for a little bit of racing. First you have to wind the rubberband up.

Keep winding!

Once it's wound up enough, let go!

Ping pong

After learning about levers, we went outside to get some hands on experience.

The parents had to hold the target, and the kids aimed a ping pong ball at us.

Katie's got a good aim...

Oooooops....

It went on the roof!

Mad Science

A Mad Scientist came into Katie's classroom to teach about mechanics.

The steeper the hill, the more force is needed to pull a car up it.

Kaite tried to pull a classmate who was sitting on the floor. It's not that easy!

Add some wheels and it's much easier!

Mount Soledad

Took a little trip up the mountain the other day. It was cold and drizzly, but fit the mood. Two Marines we knew are memorialized there.

But, even on a dreary day a little bit of sunshine can be found. Thanks Katie for brightening my day!

Little League Baseball is winding down, and I finally made it out to the ball field. Thought I'd bring you some of the action from the batter's box.

The team I was rooting for won the game. Go Yankees!
