Explorations

The kids had a blast exploring and learning all about the desert. What made it even more fun was a couple of their friends came along too.

Cool glasses!

Desert flora

Some of the native plants of the Sonoran Desert.

At first I thought it was a critter!

The Desert Museum

On the outskirts of Tucson is this living desert museum. We found all kinds of desert critters there, from roadrunners to owls.

When we go back we'll have to spend more time exploring!

Nose Art

Begun for practical reasons for identifying friendly units, it evolved to express individualty that was often constrained by the military, and to evoke memories of home.

I enjoyed all the different designs of this "aircraft graffiti."

Closer up...
This one was my favorite. Love the donkey!

Even more modern planes can be painted with nose art. This one is just a little bit different than the rest though!

Planes, planes and more planes...

These boys can spend hours looking at them. This was a really rare one. I was told to go get a picture of it. I got several, but this was my favorite.

And there is a small one in front of a big one.

This one had a bunch of propellers.

This is a really big one, and it's from Ft. Worth!

This one has a big nose.
I'm sure the guys know what each and every one are, but not me. I just tag along to take pictures.

And there are a bunch of planes to take pictures of here!

Pima Air Museum

Jeff, CJ, Papa and I went to the Pima Air Museum to take a look at some old airplanes.

Doesn't he look good flying the plane?

This was a bit scary - wouldn't want to crash land in it.

Isn't that a cute little plane? I certainly wouldn't want to fly in it though!
